BRAZILIAN FERROUS SCRAP EXPORT FELL 52%

Brazilian ferrous scrap export volumes fell by 52% year-on-year in November on reduced demand from Indonesia. 

Shipments came to 41,833 tonnes, compared with 87,168 tonnes a year before, according to figures released by the country's foreign trade ministry, MDIC, on Tuesday December 8.

Exports of Brazilian ferrous scrap to Indonesia plunged by 93.8% in November on an annual basis, to 2,664 tonnes from 43,990 tonnes.

Meanwhile, shipments to Bangladesh increased over the same period, to 15,466 tonnes from 9,806 tonnes, while exports to India grew to 15,509 tonnes from 14,889 tonnes.

From January to November, Brazilian ferrous scrap exports totalled 629,909 tonnes, up from 562,728 tonnes a year earlier, according to MDIC.
