TATA STEEL TO FACE LEGAL ACTION OVER DEATH AT SCUNTHORPE

Tata Steel and one of its contractors are facing legal action following an investigation into the circumstances of the death of a 26-year-old at the Scunthorpe works.
Electrician Thomas Standerline died in April 2010, when he was trapped by an overhead crane.
The Scunthorpe works are now owned by British Steel, but the Health and Safety Executive said today this 'there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to bring a prosecution' against former owner Tata Steel.
Surrey-based Harsco Metals Group also faces a charge of failing to comply by Health and Safety regulations.
The case is first due to be heard at Scunthorpe Magistrates court at the end of next month.
