Latin America imported 9.4 million mt of steel products from China in 2015, up 1% from the 9.3 million mt imported in 2014, the region's steel chamber, Alacero, said Thursday.
From the 2015 total, 8.4 million mt was finished steel goods and the remaining 1 million mt was other steel products.
According to Alacero, the amount of imports registered in Latin America represented 8.6% of the total volume exported by China during the year -- 109.6 million mt.
South Korea and Vietnam were the main destinations of the Chinese steel last year, with 12.2% and 9.2% of the total, respectively. The percentages represent 13.5 million mt and 10 million mt, respectively.
