Tata Steel's Europe unit chief Karl Koehler has stepped down, as India's biggest producer of the alloy battles a declining global demand amid stiff competition from cheaper Chinese imports.
The company named Hans Fischer, the chief technical officer of Tata Steel Europe, as the new CEO starting March 1. Koushik Chatterjee, a group executive director, has been made the executive director for Europe in the interim period, Tata Steel said in a statement on Wednesday. The leadership change in Europe, which accounts for more than 50% of the company's revenue, couldn't have come at a worse time for the company.
