The head of mining magnate Gina Rinehart's Roy Hill company hopes to start exporting iron ore from its $10 billion Pilbara project next month, but is not ruling out further delays.
The date has already been pushed back from September to this month.
However Roy Hill chief executive Barry Fitzgerald said he did not believe it would blow out again into next year.
"I don't believe it's going to happen. I believe it will be in this period I'm talking about. But, I mean, it's commissioning, I don't know," Mr Fitzgerald told a Perth resources forum.
