TECHINT PLANS TO SPLIT USIMINAS

The Italian group Techint, one of the main shareholders of Usiminas, may split the company in order to assure the steel supply at competitive prices.

Sources heard by news agencies say that Techint wants to maintain the Cubatão unity and activate the two blast furnaces of that site.

The proposal is to change the company's name to Ternium Cubatão.
