Gina Rinehart-controlled Roy Hill has launched legal action against Alinta Energy, claiming the power supplier substantially overcharged the massive iron ore project last year.
It is understood Roy Hill is seeking to recover more than $25 million from Alinta for alleged overcharging under complex gas and power supply arrangements involving Alinta’s Newman power plant.
Roy Hill named four Alinta subsidiaries in a writ filed in the WA Supreme Court this month, including the company that built the 121km transmission line to service its mine, Alinta’s sales arm and the Alinta financing arm that locked in $175 million of debt to bankroll the project.
