ALGERIA, TURKEY PARTNER TO BUILD IRON ORE QUAY IN ARZEW

A shareholders' agreement has been signed Tuesday in Algiers by the Port Company of Arzew and the Turkish firm Tosyali on the construction of an iron ore quay specializing in steel and iron, as well as for the purchase and the exploitation of crude-ore dumping equipments.
"The exploitation of the port and the steel complex requires high-tech equipments, which is the goal of this agreement," said Minister of Transports, Boudjemaa Talaï, during the signing ceremony.
Alp Topcuoglu, member of the Board of Directors of Tosyali said, as for him, that the iron ore will be unloaded at the port in which will be docked ships of 200,000 tons.
The ore will later be transported to the steel complex located in the Industrial Zone of Bethioua (Oran).
The complex will have the capacity of producing 4 million tons of steel in 2017 against currently 1.5 million tons.
