The monthly average of TSI’s benchmark index for Turkish imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell
US$27.63/tonne in October, -13.4% month-on-month (m-o-m).
The daily index hit a fresh all
time low of US$169/t CFR Iskenderun port on October 20, before rebounding back to US$187/t
at the end of the month.
TSI’s monthly US shredded 10-day average index for October was US$178/long ton (delivered
Midwest mill). The monthly average of TSI’s weekly US domestic shredded scrap index fell
US$33.75/l. ton (-15.7% m-o-m) to US$181.25/l. ton in October.
The weekly price of US$181/l.
ton recorded for the last 3 weeks of the month was another record low for the index.
Both of TSI’s Asian indices also fell heavily - the monthly average of Taiwanese imports of
HMS #1&2 80:20 fell by 13.3% m-o-m, whilst the monthly average of TSI’s Indian shredded
scrap imports index was down 13.5% m-o-m.
