The Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff announced this Thrusday that Samarco will have to pay at least R$ 250 million (approximately US$ 65 milllion) due to the accidente in its mine in the State of Minas Gerais last week.
The president said that this is a preliminar punishment to Samarco and emphasized that the company ignored "several laws", especially the ones related to pollution.
