Iron ore exports from Australia's Port of Port Hedland rose 8.4% year-on-year in November when the price of the steelmaking raw material plunged.
The port shipped 37.33 million tonnes of iron ore last month, compared with 34.43 million tonnes in November 2014, according to figures released by the Pilbara Ports Authority on Monday December 7.
The volumes were also up 2.3% from 36.50 million tonnes seen in October.
China imported 31.73 million tonnes of iron ore from the Australian port in November, up 9.3% from 29.03 million tonne recorded in the same month last year. The country's iron ore intake was also up from October's 30.72 million tonnes.
