The giant Ilva steel mill, in Taranto, Puglia in southern Italy, will be sold by June 30 next year, Italian metalworkers union Fim-Cisl said on Friday December 4.
The date was set in an Italian government decree that accelerates the sale of the steelmaking facility, with €300 million ($321 million) being provided to expedite the sale.
Any buyer will have to commit to a takeover date and deliver a plan for the future operation of the plant that is both environmentally sustainable and transparent.
