REFORESTATION IS THE OBSTACLE FOR AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN SAMARCO AND THE BRAZILIAN GOVERNMENT

The Brazilian Environment Ministry presented to the government of the Minas Gerais State the agreement that may be signed next Friday (March 4) with Samarco related to the dam spill that happened last November in Brazil.

The main obstacle to the agreement is the reforestation of the areas near to the Samarco facility.

The Brazilian government proposes that the reforestation area should be 120,000 acres and Samarco wants just 8,000 acres.
