Platts' IODEX spot price assessment of 62% Fe fines surged $10.70 by the Singapore market close Monday to $64.20/dry mt, up 20% from Friday's close.
Cleveland-headquartered iron miner Cliffs Natural Resources' price was up 18.7% to $3.43/share as of 4:02 pm EST (2102 GMT) Monday -- its highest level since October 6, 2015.
US Steel's stock was up almost 5% to $13.57/share, its highest price since September 17, 2015, also as of 4:02 PM EST Monday.
