Brazilian slab export volumes slumped and billet export volumes soared in November this year, trends that were the opposite of what was seen in the corresponding month in 2014.
The country exported 322,953 tonnes of slab, a decrease of 21.8% from the 412,736 tonnes in the same month a year earlier, according to figures released by Brazilian foreign trade ministry, MDIC, on Tuesday December 8.

Meanwhile, Brazilian billet exports shot up to 20,786 tonnes last month, against 1,903 tonnes a year before.
Italy was the largest importer of Brazilian billet in November, with 15,105 tonnes in the period. The country did not import any billet from Brazil in the same month in 2014.
From January to November, Brazilian slab exports reached 5.76 million tonnes, up from 3.93 million tonnes in the corresponding period in 2014, while billet exports reached 297,230 tonnes, an increase of 137.8% year-on-year.
